Thankful Thursday – His Strength

God is truly amazing! I was going to do my TT post today of the strength of the Lord; then I went over to Iris‘ blog to see what was up and there was a verse of scripture on…guess what? The Strength of the Lord!

And He said unto me, “My grace is sufficent for thee, for My strength is made perfect in weakness.” Most gladly therefore will I glory rather in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me.

2 Corinthians 12:9 (21st Century KJV)

I have had a tough week thus far… for no reason I can explain, I’ve been very weak. Yesterday, I found it almost impossible to get up from the bed. But in a funny way, I was ok. The verse of scripture swept through me and gave me peace.

I am thankful because it does not matter how weak I am – physically, emotionally, even spiritually! In fact, where God is concerned, the weaker the better. Because when I am at my weakest, then HIS strength shines through.

I am thankful because I don’t have to be anything more than what I am. My dad constantly tells me that God does not work with the qualified, He works with the available. It is humbling that in spite of my flaws and all my weaknesses, God still makes His grace available and continues to work in and through me.

That is why I’m thankful this week. Go on over to Iris’ at Sting My Heart to meet other thankful hearts and to give your own thanks.

  1. Oh, Sharon, I am so sorry that you not have been feeling well. I know what you mean though…it is wonderful to know that our Lord gives us strength to go through the day, even if we don’t feel like going one more step. I hope that He will give you strength and a renewed spirit over the next days and weeks to come.
Thank you so much for sharing your grateful heart with us, despite your weakness.

    Blessings to you and yours…

  2. That is wonderful that you felt God’s peace. I’ve been doing the study on Peace recently in my Beth Moore study on the Fruit of the Spirit. Bless you.

  3. Aren’t Dad’s the best. They always know what to say. My Dad passed away in 2000, but I remember he was always so encouraging and had the right words for us. Thanks for sharing!

  4. hi Sharon, I came here through Lynn’s blog. Just letting you know I can understand your verses this week. I feel like I”m living them too at the moment.

  5. Sharon,

My sister, Jan is fighting an aggressive brain tumor. She returns to M.D. Anderson next week for testing. Please pray for excellent results. She has been doing well. We take it one step at a time. My Dad passed away from cancer as well. I would hate for him to be here now on one hand and then on the other hand, he was awesome. God gives her what she needs every day. She, as well as all of us, put our faith in Him.

I will pray for you, as well as your friend who lost her husband.

    Take care!
    Cheryl

  8. Sharon, thanks for stopping by my blog! It is amazing to me how God works! Just stopping by and reading your thankful thursday blog was a blessing for me because I too have been very weak lately, phyically and emotionally! I love what you said and I love what your dad said! It is all so true! Blessings to you!

  9. Love what your dad said. I’ve heard it said similarly, but like this: God does not call the equipped, He equips those He calls. I was thinking about those very verses earlier this week. They are such a blessing in a world that always strives to be bigger, better, faster, stronger, prettier, richer, smarter. All that stuff is about US and not HIM. Great post. Thanks for the visit and for sharing here.

  10. 2 Corinthians 12:9 is an anchor in my life.
I pray you regain your strength.
Thank you for visiting me at The Accidental Pharisee and welcoming me to Thankful Thursday.

  11. Sharon, I am so sorry you are not feeling well. It is wonderful to see that even not feeling well, you can still see the blessings.

  12. Hi Sharon. I’m so sorry you haven’t been feeling well. But what you said just made me realized important things. When you said about God’s strength shining through -it just hit a chord in me. Wow what a positive person you are. May God bless you always.

  13. I’m so sorry you have been weak and not feeling well. Yet you stopped by my blog to leave a comment. You are amazing.

Thanks for your comments about my aunt. I did not think that the tests would bring anything positive. I know and have known for some time that she is dying. I’m hoping that the Lord calls her home before she has to suffer much more.

Take care. I have added you to my prayer list.

    Blessings,
    Mary
